Privacy

Last updated 7 October 2026

The short version: there are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no cookies, no ads and no third-party trackers on this site. I count visits in aggregate, and that's all. The rest of this page says exactly what that means.

Stored in your browser

The site remembers a few display choices so the page looks the way you left it: the Time Machine year, the alert filter, which banners you closed, the map's Globe or Network mode, and whether you've opened the Network view. They live in your browser's local storage, on your device. They are never sent to me or anyone else, and clearing the site's data in your browser removes them.

Counting visits

I use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they open. It sets no cookies. It records the page address, where you came from, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type, and Vercel says it doesn't follow individual visitors across sites or from day to day. The Export menu is counted the same way: I can see that a CSV was downloaded from the Risk view, not who downloaded it.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and request details to deliver pages and keep the service secure, and may keep them in short-lived server logs. I don't have a copy of those logs or any other way to identify you. Vercel's privacy policy covers what they do with it.

What your browser never contacts

Pages load their scripts, fonts and images from this site only. The live alert feeds are fetched by the server, so the sources never see your browser. Exports and shareable links are built on your device; nothing you export or share is uploaded to me. If you follow a link to another site, such as an alert headline or the Epoch AI dataset, that site's own policy applies from there.

If this changes

If I ever add ads, a newsletter, comments or anything else that collects more than the above, I'll update this page before it goes live, and add a consent choice where the law requires one.
